The Quest Zimbabwe Team

Passionate about Africa and her magic.

Stuart and his business partner, Dr Richard Chernis, have been exploring the idea of an extreme MTB adventure in the African wilderness for some time. The unique format was conceptualised in November 2017 and a special location had to be identified. Quest Zimbabwe was then born from this in May 2018.

There are only two places in sub-Sahara that would offer a wild, partly-accessible and complete African MTB adventure experience. Having traveled extensively in Zimbabwe & Botswana for 30 years, Stuart together with his partners have put together something that will offer the MTB enthusiast something unrivaled on the global MTB calendar.

Quest Zimbabwe will see 30 teams, of 4 MTB riders per team, traverse a circular route through authentic African tribal trust lands and wild African bush, where large wildlife and predators reign supreme.

The riders will sleep in wild and remote locations and will be accompanied by professional game rangers, emergency personnel and operational staff. A hearty menu will satisfy the teams throughout the journey.

The magic that presents itself during the days and nights will leave an indelible mark on all those that dare to embark on this unique quest.

Stuart has been working with Dr Richard Chernis on mass-participation education projects in South Africa since 2004, through the NGO, Salamax 320. The two have been working together on numerous other community development projects and initiatives. Richard provides exceptional organizational and supplier coordination for Quest Zimbabwe so that all the services and products are in place for the Quest participants. Richard is also has a deep love and respect for the African bush and her inhabitants.

Dave Gorman introduced Stuart to the deep African bushveld in Zimbabwe and Botswana in 1988. Dave forms part of the operational team to ensure that the practical and safety elements are implemented for a comfortable and memorable experience. Dave has traversed remote and inaccessible regions of Zimbabwe that we can only imagine.

Thulani Jele is a Professional Ranger for Zimbabwe National Parks. Thulani has proven to be an indispensable ally in tracking and establishing the Quest Zimbabwe route. His local knowledge and experience is a great asset to the project and his passion for this pristine wildlife region is evident in his commitment to his work.
